Sk8tics is a training log for figure skaters. Skaters record how each element in their program went at practice, and coaches they have linked with can see those records and add scores.
Many of our users are under 18. This policy is written to be read by them and by their parents, so it is in plain language rather than legal language.
The short version. We collect the account details you give us and the training records you create. We do not show ads, we do not use analytics or tracking, and we do not sell or share your information with anyone for their own purposes. Your training records are visible only to you and to coaches you have chosen to link with. You can ask us to delete everything at any time.
Sk8tics is built and operated by Drones for Good, a registered non-profit, and is not affiliated with any skating club, association, or governing body.

When you create an account we collect your email address, a password, a username, your name, whether you are a skater or a coach, and whether you are under 18.
Your password is never stored in a readable form. It is hashed by our authentication provider, and nobody at Sk8tics can see it.
This is the content you create in the app:
The app checks for software updates when it starts. That request reaches our update provider with your device's IP address, operating system, and app version. It is not linked to your account and we do not use it to identify you.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar, health data, or advertising identifiers. The app requests none of these permissions. There is no analytics software and no third-party tracking of any kind in Sk8tics.

We do not use any of it to build advertising profiles, and we do not use it to train machine-learning models.
Your training records are private to your account. They become visible to a coach only when a link between you and that coach is active. You start that link by inviting the coach, and you can end it at any time, which immediately stops their access.
A coach can see the training records and their own scores for skaters linked to them. A coach cannot edit or delete a skater's records, and cannot see any skater they are not linked with. Skaters cannot see each other's records at all.
We use a small number of service providers. They may only handle your information to provide their service to us, and may not use it for their own purposes.

Some of these providers store data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States, where local authorities may be able to compel access under their own laws.
We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers, data brokers, skating clubs, or associations. We would disclose information only if the law required it of us.
Sk8tics is built for young athletes, so most of our users are minors. We handle their accounts on these principles:
A parent or guardian may ask to see everything we hold about their child, correct it, or have it deleted, by writing to privacy@dronesforgood.global from an address we can verify with the account holder. We will not charge for this and will respond within 30 days.
We keep your account and training records for as long as your account exists, because the point of a training log is to look back over a season.
When an account is deleted, its profile, seasons, programs, sessions, marks, and coach links are deleted along with it. Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis and any remaining copies disappear within 30 days.
Because we hold personal information in Canada, you also have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you think we have handled your information badly.
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted. Access to each record is enforced by the database itself rather than only by the app, so a record you are not entitled to see is not returned to your device at all. Passwords are stored only as hashes.
No system is perfect. If a breach ever affects your information, we will tell you and the relevant regulator as required by law.
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. For a change that materially affects you, we will also tell you in the app before it takes effect.
